making your browsing experience at this site its
very best.
The Zone System section of the Cicada Photography Resource
has it own special navigation device. The ZS area has become
so large, that just moving from one place to the other would be
difficult without a consistent device. The device we use is shown below as a drawing.

- area 1: Page top
- This area sometimes changes from one part of the Cicada Photography Resource
to the other. It is not specifically about the Zone System. On some pages, it may not
be present at all.
- area 2: Main Navigator
- This is the main navigational device for the Zone System. It changes slightly
for each region or chapter within the Zone System, but always allows you
to navigate from any one major area to any other major area.
- The 'Z' icon helps locate the navigator on the page and adds a cohesive visual
element to the site.
- The 'Zone System' column has links to several major areas
The Table of Contents for the site
- Quicktour: a few pages, each with only a sentence or
two about the Zone System
- Intro: more info for people who are interested but don't need or want
the full picture yet
- Tables: charts and/or tabular data
- The 'Chapter' column has links to each of the chapters in the site
- The 'area specific' column has links to specific pages within the current area.
The picture above was made from a screen snapshot in Chapter 5, so this
column is labeled Chapter 5 in the drawing. Because this page, the one you are reading now, is in the 'Help' area, the area specific column on the navigator
for this page will have links to pages and topics in the help area.
- The 'Ballon Help' column has links to other major areas, most of them
hoped to behelpful to the reader :).
- area 3: Page Navigator
- This area changes for each page in the site. It helps you keep track of where
you are within the labyrinth of the many hundreds of html pages on the site.
Although many of the pages here are small pages, it can be easy to get
lost. This area is ususally present. It is there to help you know where you are
on the site and to allow easy movement to the 'next' page when that is helpful.
