Frank,

Try reducing the time, but agitating the first 30 seconds, and 5 seconds each minute thereafter.

Sounds like the HC-110 negs may be easier to print than your TMax ones, if you have lighter highlights on the neg but equivalent shadow detail. Is the shadow detail the same? If it is and you want more contrast in your negs, it's a simple matter to increase development a bit. (We tread close to the Zone System here.)

I found that TMax negs would produce more shadow detail in prints than I thought there would be, looking at the negative. Remember, it is the print we work for, you don't frame the negative.

I bargained for over two years before buying a Medalist II in Kathmandu. Great camera; I was an idiot to sell it.

Peace,
Joe

The negatives look funny, but seem to print well enough. The overall contrast seems good, but the highlights seem a little light on the film.

I am using a Medalist 6x9 with roll film, a gossen luna-pro SBC, and a Beseler 23C condenser enlarger. I have not tried the zone system with this camera yet, because I was trying to get a basic time and temp chart for a base line. I am trying HC110 with no agitation at 75 degrees for 10 minutes, per the following web site: http://teachnet.edb.utexas.edu/~leica/hc110.html

Using TMAX developer, with all recommended agitation and temperature, I get more contrasty negatives. I am still working on this problem, so I don't quite know how to proceed.

Yes, I've used HC-110B very successfully.

What sort of problems are you having?

Peace.

Does anyone use HC-110 for tmax films? I have tried, but seem to have trouble. TMAX developer always works. I don't know why.
